BREAKING NEWS (Well, the stuff that's fit to print anyway)
18th April, 2007: The big news for this update is that I've changed the SHOWREEL page - and updated it! Yes, I have finally amended my showreel to include a few more recent productions, and also made it a little easier to view online. You can still download the slightly better versions. Next, I'm planning on updating the photo page to, well, include more recent shots there too...um...that's all for now.
26th Janurary, 2007: Yah! Finally another update. Many reasons for the time delay, none of them really interesting or...honestly...any good. Okay - moving on. To quickly recap the last few months. REMAKE won third prize at TRASHARAMA, I've moved down to Sydney to start work on THE BIGGEST LOSER, I made it through to the top ten of the MTV one80project movie competition (of which the winners are announced this Sunday) and finally there is HOLLYWOOD OR BUST. This is the latest, greatest plan for making it big. For more details go to the official site - HERE, and join in the journey.
12th October, 2006: Well is certainly seems to be becoming a standard that this gets updated once in a blue moon. Not really for any main reason - well mostly due to not having a decent and lasting internet access. After finishing on Big Brother, I took a well earned break...OK, so a break...and worked on some things for Project Greenlight. Somehow I managed to end up associated with three scripts in the top 50. So following a frantic two weeks of filming and editing, I sat back and waited...alas, it was to go no further for me. So I have been chilling out, entering the 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT again, and perparing to head back down to Sydney for the second series of THE BIGGEST LOSER. Seem to be spending more time behind the camera than in front of it these days. Oh, yeah - found out that the Music Video for GIRTH, won some awards and has been played on RAGE. KOKODA's out on DVD also...(hint, hint)
24th June, 2006: As seems to be a trend at the moment - updates are sporadic at best. I had hoped to try to keep it to a monthly thing, but, well...ah who really is that concerned as to how often news is put up. So what is the news...? Still working on Big Brother (which is a sound, if somewhat flimsy excuse for the delay) so that takes up a lot of my time. However I have managed to squeeze in a music video for a band called GIRTH, and am in the middle of filming a QPIX short called The Interview. Project Greenlight has started up again, so I've got a few screenplays into that - well if Matt and Ben can do it, gosh darn it, so can I. And that's pretty much it for now. I'm in the process of redesigning this site, so keep an eye out...but don't hold your breath.
14th March, 2006: Wow, I had no idea it had been quite so long since I updated things here. Well, in my defence, I have been keeping pretty busy - but this time on the other side of the camera. Firstly, time was taken up finishing a remake of our 48hr film entry for Tropfest. Creatively titled REMAKE, the script was tightened, roles were recast and a bit more time was put into the overall product. The end result was shortlisted for the finals, but didn't quite make the top 16 - if you're interested, it can be seen here - REMAKE: The Short. But that's just a small bit of what's been keeping me occupied. The majority of is has been proper work, well, proper in a loose sense of the word. I've been in Sydney working as an Edit Assistant. Firstly on The Ronnie Johns Half Hour and more recently on The Biggest Loser. That's almost over now though, and I am soon to return to the Gold Coast to begin work on Big Brother. Not as a contestant - god no, but still and edit assistant.
24th December, 2005: Almost another year over, so Merry Christmas to everyone and all that blah. In an effort to herald in the end of the year I managed to secure a spot on a docu-actment (Documentary/Re-enactment; it's a word I just made up). It was for the History Channel and involved me trapseing around the bush portraying a cannabilistic convict from circa 1800. For those that are wondering - it tastes like pork. As always, I have no idea what the new year will bring, but I'll certainly stick around to find out.
14th November, 2005: A very busy weekend just passed...well, OK. A very busy sunday. The day started at 6 with the filming of The Clearing on the Gold Coast. Then, following a brief bit of work (that annoying stuff that gets in the way of filming stuff), it was straight up to Brisbane for Worse Off. Both were different, and both were great! Today saw the start of another round of Simulation Roleplays for the Army. Of course I can't tell you much about that - or else I'd have to...hey, you know the quote.
4th November, 2005: First day (and night) on Kokoda yesterday, and it looks likely to be a pretty cool flik. It's set during the 2nd World War, and as there are guns and things that go bang involved - what's not to like. We are filming the main battle scene tonight! In other news, our entry to the 48 Hour Film Project came away with second prize (smug grins all round).
15th October, 2005: Kokoda is looming, and a very long week has passed, but in a good way. Three short films and not a lot of the ol' shut eye. The first was One Stormy Night . The guys on this one managed to secure Tom and Nick Tate. Nick Tate is pretty well known, especially in the voice over circles. Second was a mad effort we put together for the 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT. Finally was a small crime number last night. Not that it's over though - as this week is the Gold Coast Indy. Sleep is over rated anyway!
3rd October, 2005: Three months (almost) and no updates. Has anyone noticed? No idea, but now that I'm settled in again and slowly getting those little things like life back on track (as well as the internet) I thought it was more than due. An update that is. And I must say that the move back has panned out well. A role on the TV series Mortified which is filming at the moment, as well as a part of the feature film Kokoda. In addition two more short films are in the can and it's only a matter of time till I see how they turn out. Considering it's been several months, I would have though that there would be more to say...but there isn't.
12th July, 2005: Having been informed of a slight glitch, things are now back up and running. Getting back into the swing of things up in sunny Queensland, auditioning and what not - there are a few things on the horizon. More details as each one is confirmed. On a seperate note, fortunately, none of the poeple that I know of over in the UK were involved in the attacks last week - so I'm really happy about that. I also finished a rather ambitious project where I put together a film for the BIFF Fast Film Competition - incorporating several locations (including the snow), filming and editing all myself. Quite pleased with the end result, yet will have to see if it impresses the Judges any.
20th June, 2005: It's been a busy couple of days. First I recieved notification that I have secured the lead in another RMIT film. Currently titled Burning Bridges (but this will probably change several times) it's shooting in August. Which is good as it's in Melbourne so I will have to come back down for that one. Also had two casting calls for adverts - YAH! Unfortunately they were both in Brisbane and I wasn't able to get up there for them - BOO! In other news though, the short film Caravan that hold a supporting role in has been accepted into the Nashville Film Festival, which is an Academy A List festival. Apparently this means if you win best of in your category you are automatically entered into the nomination pool for the academy awards. That's cool!
11th June, 2005: So what's new. Almost a month since the last update. No word from the 48 Shades crew, so nothing there. However due to several other projects that are in development (film related) I am going to be moving back up to the Gold Coast. Planning to be back on the coast on the 3rd of July, after spending a week up in the mountains snowboarding to my heart's content. True, most of the time will most likely be spent on my arse - but that's half the fun...isn't it?
03rd May, 2005: The end of April and I was fortunate enough to finally get to my casting call for the feature film 48 Shades of Brown. I say finally as it was a real case of bad timing surrounding this one. The first call was held in Brisbane, yet I was unable to attend due to filming commitements in Melbourne. So I set about making a tape audition. Then, last Friday, while I was up on the Gold Coast, I recieved the call that they were holding the Melbourne auditions. Long story short - I changed my flight back, then promptly missed it by 2 minutes (thanks Jetstar) and had to book another. The upshot being that I made the audition, had an interesting story to recount and did reasonable well (time will tell just how well).
21th April, 2005: Tuesday night was the Queensland New Filmmaker award's ceremony. I only mention this as several of the films I was involved in were among the award winners. Taking out Warner Roadshow Studios award for Best Overall Film was Rocket Science 2: Lost in Paradise, where I reprised my role as the good natured but generally inept officer of the law - Steve Pearson. This film also recieved the QUT Creative Industries Award for Best Tertiary Drama 10-30 minutes. The claymation short - Glam to Sham, for which I lended my vocal styles to, was awarded the QUT Creative Industries Award for Best Tertiary Other.
18th April, 2005: The weekend saw things wrap on the short film Sub/Urban. Now things are all set for the RMIT production (which now has a title - Near To Me ) which starts filming tomorrow.
13th April, 2005: I have uploaded new and (in my opinion) improved showreels in the - yup, you guessed it - Showreel section. I've also added the year to everything on my resume (So you know I haven't been slacking)
12th April, 2005: I forgot to mention yesterday that I recently (well back in Feburary) landed the part of the 'Zen Guy' in the latest Conrad Jupiters Casio TVC. This was shot on the Gold Coast and consisted of me eating some chinese and having a shapely pair of legs appear in front of me. Well, I can certainly think of far worse ways to spend an evening.
11th April, 2005: I decided that I should put a NEWS section. Mainly so that I could list the most recent productions that I have been involved with. I am currently due to start on two Graduate Films in Melbourne - One for RMIT and one for Swinburne. I have the lead in both, and rather oddly, they have little to no dialogue. I have come to the conclusion that this is good. Actually it's great as there is a far greater need to properly convey the thoughts and emotions of the character and not hide behind words. I have also secured a role in a low budget feature to be filmed on the Gold Coast in June.
